STATEMENT ON FIRSTENERGY’S RECORD-SETTING SETTLEMENT AMID CORRUPTION AND BRIBERY CHARGES EMBROILING MIKE DEWINE’S CLOSEST ALLIES

07/23/21

Cleveland, OH – Businessman and former congressman Jim Renacci issued the following statement regarding FirstEnergy’s $230 million prosecution settlement stemming from an investigation into bribery and corruption charges against some of Mike DeWine’s closest allies.

“Mike DeWine helped create a culture of corruption where sweetheart deals and bribes are normalized in Columbus. He and key members of his administration have been entangled and some now named in this web of corruption, yet DeWine has refused to come clean about his administration's involvement. Yesterday's settlement news proves there is merit to the allegations and much more will come out. The walls are closing in on DeWine and he needs to tell Ohioans the truth about his shady dealings and return all of his dirty money.”

Stay tuned for a formal announcement from Congressman Renacci next week.
